Genuine question here: How can you be a Bayern fan and a Dortmund Fan? How does that work?

Because you said this is a genuine question I will answer it. I think you can be a Bayern fan and a Dortmund fan the same way you can be a fan of two different actors, two different movies released in the same year and nominated for best film, two different singers vying for the same award, two different bands, two different tv shows, two different athletes…two different anything in the same category. 

You can be a fan because it is easy to be a fan. You can be a fan of anything really. You genuinely like it, you admire it, you follow it…congrats you are a fan!! There are no rules on it.

Now if you are talking about being a true, loyal supporter (like here is my signature you are now my club until death do us part and after my death whenever people remember me they will remember how much I loved you) that is different!! Because if you are a loyal, sincere supporter of your club and that club is part of your identity as it always is with actual supporters, then you will never want another club to win over them. They mean everything to you. And that is a tall order. This takes passion, commitment, loyalty, and love!! Serious love!! Being a fan is easy. You follow the object of your affection for some time and when it doesn’t please you anymore you walk away, but being one of these crazy loyal supporters you never get to walk away. Your favorite player is gone, too bad you are stuck. The coach sucks this season, you are stuck! 

I think most of us forget not everyone on tumblr is a loyal supporter of these clubs. And that is fine. So many of them are so young, they are just starting out. It is okay if they want to explore a little before getting married to a club. Why pretend you don’t like something just so you can make a decision that would suit others. 

There are some imbeciles who think they are loyal supporters of two clubs. They probably don’t understand it is a competition.
